Emirates swaps the Boeing 777 it uses on Dubai-Manchester flights for an Airbus A380. It will be a daily service. This will make Manchester the first regional airport in the world to be regularly serviced by an A380. "Manchester has become one of the strongest performers in our growing network of regional gateways. Our customers value our commitment to a regional network at a time when other airlines are abandoning them. We are delighted to give our Manchester customers the very best available in the shape of the Emirates' A380, which, without doubt, has revolutionised flying." said Emirates' Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations, Europe & Russian Federation, Salem Obaidalla. "Emirates' decision to operate daily A380 services between Manchester and Dubai represents an historic moment for this airport and the region that we serve. We have invested close to 10 million (AED 54.8 million) in upgrading the airfield and terminal, both to accommodate the aircraft itself and to create a fitting environment for Emirates' customers, whether it is at check-in, using the airline's executive lounge or at the gate area." said Andrew Cornish, Manchester Airport's Managing Director. |

Emirates opens a 147-seat dedicated lounge for premium passengers at Manchester International Airport. "We've invested more than a quarter of a billion dirhams on fantastic lounges across the world these sanctuaries really provide that home from home feeling that is so important to our passengers. Coupled with Emirates Chauffeur Drive, dedicated check-in counters and priority baggage handling, the Emirates Lounge is central to our seamless premium product." said Emirates' Divisional Senior Vice President Airport Services, Mohammed Mattar. The Lounge is situated in Terminal 1's departures area and is open to and Gold Skywards members and Business Class passengers travelling on an Emirates non-stop daily flights from Manchester to Dubai. |

On her way to Liverpool, Mich caught a flight from Malaysia to Dubai to Manchester. Without realising that they "dun really check" that hand luggage cannot be over 7kg, she bought a small luggage bag. She found the flight from Dubai to Manchester better than from Malaysia (presumably Kuala Lumpur) to Dubai - "There are a lot of movies and dramas for you to choose from. I think I spent more time on the games". And Mich's first impressions of the UK: "The first thing that I felt was cold when we reach at Manchester Airport. If I'm not mistaken, it was like 13-15 Celsius. Then we sat on a bus to the right location. After showing some documents and questions being asked by the immigration officer, we all need to use a 1 pound coin to use the trolley. So remember to bring some cash/coins before you come to UK."  |

Chris Kong flew with Emirates from Kuala Lumpur to Manchester via Dubai. She wasn't too impressed with her prerequested diabetic meal on the Kuala to Dubai leg, but was much more satisfied on the Manchester to Dubai leg of the trip: "I am very very pleased this time with Emirates. Air hostesses on board are super nice and the food is abundant...non stop servings, super duper nice".  |
