When asked about the significance of the new Dubai to Malé route; the CEO of flydubai, Ghaith al Ghaith, said that "it was an important addition to the ever expanding network of the airline. Flydubai strives to provide their home market (in the United Arab Emirates) with affordable and high quality services for travel to exotic destinations, like the Maldives. The route is opening new markets for the Maldives and new opportunities for their network."

"It is our 52nd destination since flydubai's inauguration three years ago. During 2012, we focused on destinations in the former Soviet Union and Central Europe. There are currently 28 aircrafts in our fleet, which is over the halfway point of our 50 aircraft order and the intended size of the airline."

Phil Blizzard, the interviewer, asked Ghaith al Ghaith about the access to papers on flydubai's in flight entertainment system. Ghaith al Ghaith's answered: "They call that the eReader. We are experimenting with this product and are launching a trial on our aircraft. We are offering 42 national newspapers and magazines on our flights. This way, we don't have to worry about all the paper we have to carry on board."

Malé (Maldives) accommodation

When visiting the Maldives, we recommend booking a place at the Taj Exotica Resort & Spa. It is located around 8km from Malé and can be easily reached via speedboat. A lot of diving opportunities are available within a 30 minute radius around the Resort. There are two types of accommodation available (the lagoon rooms and the beach villas). The lagoon rooms are situated above the water and if you are looking for more privacy, ask for a room facing the open ocean. The beach villas provide direct access to the beach and a private plunge pool.
