Safety Tip

Suicide bombs often go off early in the morning, as bombers spend all night psyching themselves up, then say prayers at dawn, before doing their bombing. So sleep-in and venture out of your hotel after 11am or so, thus drastically reducing the chance of being at the wrong place at the wrong time.

Stay in hotel rooms above the ground floor, as they're likely to be the first to see action in the event of a terrorist attack.  Avoid hotel rooms which are higher than fire engine ladders can reach, in case there's a fire or need for rescue for another reason.

Weather in Kabul

Kabul features a semi-arid, continental climate. Summers are long and hot, with very low humidity. Autumn (October and November) is warm and dry; while winters (December to March) are cold, but short. Spring in Kabul starts in late March and is the time of the year in which the most rainfall occurs.

Kabul (Afghanistan) accommodation

When visiting Kabul, we recommend staying at the Safi Landmark Hotel & Suites. It is centrally located and shares an entrance with a shopping mall. Many tourist attractions (like the Zardozi Market) can be reached on foot; while the zoo can be reached by car within 10 minutes. The rooms are a decent size and well-maintained. If you ask for a suite, you will have access to your own kitchen and washing machine. The whole complex put in place security measures when they experienced a Taliban attack.
